Original Sin Desserts Bakery Café Receives
Green Business Certification

Santa Cruz, CALIF. October 1, 2008 – Original Sin Desserts Bakery Café is pleased to announce that it has received Green Business Certification. The Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program has recognized Original Sin for "exceeding environmental regulatory requirements, preventing pollution, and conserving natural resources." To date, Original Sin is the only bakery in Santa Cruz County to be Green Certified.

"Becoming Green was part of my business plan from the very beginning," said owner Tanya DeCell. "I live in Santa Cruz too, and being a good partner to the community and environment makes both economic and ethical sense."

Original Sin achieved this certification primarily by switching to Energy Star appliances, retrofitting existing lights with CFL and LED technology, and using recyclable plastic and paper products.

Original Sin Desserts is located at the corner of 41st and Portola in Santa Cruz. The bakery specializes in classic American desserts made from scratch using all natural ingredients. The café focuses on fresh, seasonal fare and uses organic produce from Happy Boy and Windmill Farms, among others.
